A test should not be the first contact
If the student starts with questions, the result often measures lack of preparation. Watch the explanation and examples first.
One mistake should produce one insight
After an attempt, write the reason for each mistake: tense, article, word order, meaning, or a confused example. This turns the test into a diagnostic tool.
Do not retake immediately for a prettier score
An immediate retake often checks short-term memory. Returning after a day or two shows whether the knowledge is more stable.
Look for repeated patterns
One low result is not always a problem. A repeated mistake type is the signal that the student should return to a specific rule and examples.
How to know the test helped
The test helped if the next action is obvious: rewatch a fragment, rewrite the rule, make five examples, or move to the next lesson.
